2013-011: Ginnie Mae "Factor A" vs. "Factor B" Files
Published Date: 3/14/2013 1:00 AM

Based on the data received from Ginnie Mae’s Issuers on Ginnie Mae I and Ginnie Mae II pools on the fourth business day of each month, Ginnie Mae computes the PRELIMINARY security factor ("Factor A File") for each pool and the aggregate Remaining Principal Balance (RPB) of each multiple Issuer MBS pool.

The preliminary file ("Factor A File") is subject to corrections from Ginnie Mae Issuers. It is not final and at the time it is released, Ginnie Mae’s window for corrections is still open.

If any pool (custom or multi-Issuer), the factor reporting is incomplete as of the fourth business day Preliminary file, the pool record in the Preliminary file will have blanks and no factor data will be reported until the final Factor file on the sixth business day.

Based on the final RPB reports from Issuers, Ginnie Mae creates and distributes a complete and updated FINAL security factor (“Factor B File”) of Ginnie Mae I and Ginnie Mae II MBS pools on the sixth business day of the month.

Below are the Factor files that are released:

  • GNMA I FACTOR (PRELIMINARY) - Released on the fourth business day
  • GNMA II FACTOR (PRELIMINARY) - Released on the fourth business day
  • GNMA I FACTOR (FINAL) - Released on the sixth business day
  • GNMA II FACTOR (FINAL) - Released on the sixth business day
